The European Payments Council (EPC) is currently looking for a (m/f) Secretary General. The position is based in Brussels.
The EPC was established in June 2002 and adopted its current governance structure in mid 2004. Its purpose is to support and promote the creation of a Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). EPC defines common positions for the cooperative space of payment services (such as credit transfers, direct debits, cards, e-payments, m-payments and cash). The EPC provides strategic guidance for standardisation, formulates best practices and supports and monitors implementation of decisions taken.
The EPC is the Scheme Manager for the SEPA Credit Transfer, the SEPA Direct Debit, and the SEPA B2B Direct Debit Schemes. The EPC Plenary is accountable for the “development and evolution function” of these schemes. The decisions for the “administration and Compliance functions” of these schemes are taken by the Scheme Management Committee chaired by an independent chair.
The EPC Plenary is the decision taking body of the EPC and consists now of 76 Members, composed of banks, banking associations and payment institutions. Over 300 professionals from 31 countries are directly engaged in the work programme of the EPC and representing institutions of all sizes and sectors.
