Second phase of the ABBL Job Market: launch of an assistance service for available staff

Dossiers:

In the presence of François Biltgen, Minister of Labour and Employment, the ABBL today presented the second phase of its ABBL Job Market project, which aims to increase the chances of finding a new job for those persons that have become available in the financial sector.

This second step of the project, which enjoys the financial support of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, consists of providing individual assistance for the benefit of available staff in the financial sector registered on the ABBL's electronic Job Market platform.

The Luxembourg Institute for Training in Banking (IFBL) together with Galilei, an expert in the field of personalised coaching and career development, will carry out the individual assistance programme.

This individual assistance may consist of a personal or professional assessment of the person in question, coaching, setting up contacts with potential employers, or additional training that is likely to expedite the person's reinsertion into the financial sector.

This second phase follows the launch of the electronic Job Market platform in autumn 2008, which set up an employment exchange for ABBL and alfi members. Human resource managers can thus submit their job offers and staff that has become available for economic reasons on the ABBL website, or respectively on the ABBL ExtraNet.

Financial sector job offers may be consulted on www.abbl.lu in the Job Market section.

The implementation of this electronic employment exchange illustrates the heightened sense of responsibility of the financial sector towards its staff affected by the financial crisis, and is in line with commitments made by the ABBL in the tripartite coordination committee. The individual assistance service brings a new dynamic to the existing tool and proactively bridges the gap between potential candidates and available positions.
