What are the Risk Management Implications of UCITS 'Hedge Funds'?

To answer this question, EDHEC conducted an extensive survey among UCITS and alternative asset managers, their service providers, external observers and investors. The survey was conducted in the framework of the EDHEC research chair on non-financial risks in investment funds. The results are based on information gathered from 437 respondents who together hold assets of more than €13 trillion under management.

Samuel Sender, Research Manager at the EDHEC Risk Institute, has been invited by PRiM, the Luxembourg association of risk managers, to share the key findings of this survey with the Luxembourg financial community at a conference on Mr. Sender will also present the recommendations of EDHEC with regard to:

• Improving the regulation of investment funds
• Designing the appropriate incentives for asset managers
• Questioning hedge fund risk management practices in a UCITS context
• Clarifying the responsibilities of distributors, asset managers, depositaries and fund administrators with regard to capital adequacy and regulations.
