The EPC published on 14 March 2017 version 5.0 of its White paper on mobile payments, which had been subject to a public consultation in 2016.

The white paper aims to contribute to the evolution of an integrated market for mobile payments across the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). It informs stakeholders, including Payment Service Providers (PSPs), mobile network operators, merchants and any interested party, about the EPC’s commitment to harmonised mobile payments in SEPA.

Participation of various stakeholders in the mobile payment ecosystem was registered during the public consultation, with contributions from PSPs and financial institutions, card schemes and retailers.

This new version has been aligned with the latest version of the SEPA Cards Standardisation Volume, recently published by the European Cards Stakeholders Group.
