Wim Mijs, CEO of the Dutch Banking Association (NVB), has just been appointed Chairman of the Executive Committee of the European Banking Federation for a two year mandate.
He succeeds Ariane Obolensky, CEO of the French Banking Federation.
“I am delighted to be taking this position at a time when difficult challenges remain and new ones will most likely arise in the coming months. I would like to pay tribute to my predecessor Ariane Obolensky for her commitment and professionalism in probably the most difficult circumstances the EBF has ever had to face. I will do my utmost to follow in her step” declared Mijs.
Mijs, a Dutch national, specialized in European and International law at the university of Leiden in the Netherlands. He has been a member of the EBF’s Executive Committee for 5 years, since his appointment as CEO of the NVB in 2007, and previously chaired the Federation’s Financial Markets Committee for 6 years. He was also appointed Chairman of the International Banking Federation IBFed in 2011.
