On 5 December the risk management community has been invited to the 2nd edition of the ABBL & ALRiM Risk Management Conference. Law makers, supervisors, banking experts and leading practitioners shared insights on the latest trends in banking risk management with 130 banking professionals attending. The main focus was set on the new banking regulation package (CRR 2/CRD 5/BRRD 2) and the Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process (SREP).
After a welcome address by Serge de Cillia, CEO of ABBL, Pierrot Rasqué, Advisor at the Ministry of Finance, has given an insight on the current state of play in the discussions regarding the new banking regulation package. The impacts on the Luxembourg banking industry were then discussed by Elisa Alonso Sanz, ABN AMRO Bank Country Chief Risk Officer, Doris Engel, BCEE Head of Finance, Alexandra Merlino, Banque Pictet & Cie Regulatory Affairs Coordinator and Pierrot Rasqué in a panel moderated by Gilles Pierre, ABBL Head of Banking Regulation.
In the second part of the conference, Claude Wampach, CSSF Head of Risk Management provided an update on the SREP methodology for Less Significant Institutions (LSIs). His introduction was discussed by a panel moderated by Thierry López, ALRiM Board member and Chairman of the ABBL Banking Supervision Committee, and composed of Georges Heinrich, Secrétaire Général of Banque de Luxembourg, Jürgen Hillen, Member of the Executive Board of Clearstream International SA / Deutsche Börse Group, David Suetens, State Street Bank Executive Vice President and Country Head, and Claude Wampach.
Luc Neuberg, the ALRiM Chairman, closed the conference by thanking speakers, panellists and guests for the fruitful exchange.
