On 7 May 2018, the ABBL organised ABBL Meets Members event “Surfing the wave of the GDPR” in the presence of 130 participants.
Members received three sets of guidelines drafted by the ABBL on:
- The efficient implementation of the GDPR
- How to address human resources’ challenges in the context of GDPR
- The impact of the GDPR on Big Data and Data Analytics projects, together with being provided with relevant insights from representatives of the CNPD.
The ABBL guidelines reflect the outcome of the work undertaken by three working groups of the ABBL, i.e. the Data Protection working group, the Data Protection and Human Resources working group, and the Big Data and Data Analytics working group of ABBL’s Digital Banking and FinTech Innovation Cluster.
Guidelines dedicated to the implementation of the GDPR
The guidelines dedicated to the implementation of the GDPR gives financial stakeholders the keys to a successful implementation of the GDPR, focusing especially on clients, by providing relevant information and practical tools to tackle specific issues such as transparency requirements, the retention of personal data, the right to data portability together with other clients’ rights, profiling, marketing among others.
Practical guide for the application of the GDPR in employment relations
The practical guide for the application of the GDPR in employment relations aims at helping HR departments with the implementation of GDPR in their daily processes. It gives organisations useful advices by analysing all the situations the employer encounters may during the recruitment phase with the candidate, during the execution of the employment contract with the employee and after the end of the employment contract with the former employee.
Discussion paper on the impact of GDPR on big data and data analytics projects
The discussion paper on the impact of GDPR on big data and data analytics projects provides insights on the intersection between GDPR compliance and the use of innovative technologies by banks and other financial services firms. Presented recommendations touch upon various areas such as risks and opportunities of big data, privacy by design, anonymisation of data, consent management process, data protection officer and data protection impact assessments.
