The Commission’s European Innovation Scoreboard, published on 22 June 2018, qualifies Luxembourg innovation leader. Attractive research systems and Intellectual assets are the strongest innovation dimensions. This area of performance reveals that a country is open for cooperation with partners from abroad, that researchers are well networked at international level, and that the quality of research output is very high.
Luxembourg ranks 6th in the global ranking and thus joins the top innovators group this year (top innovators perform 20% or more above the EU average).
This Scoreboard provides a comparative assessment of research and innovation performance of the EU and European countries. It allows policy-makers to assess relative strengths and weaknesses of national research and innovation systems, track progress, and identify priority areas to boost innovation performance.
