Woch vun de Suen or Money Week

Since 2015, the ABBL and the Fondation ABBL pour l’éducation financière organise each year the Woch vun de Suen or Money Week. This event, supported by the Ministère de l’Education, de l’Enfance et de la Jeunesse, is part of the European Money Week initiated by the European Banking Federation.

  • Objective: through an educational activity of about 2 hours, to help young people (10 to 12 years old) understand the value of money and the importance of managing their budget.
  • Next edition: 28 March to 1 April 2022
  • To register for the 2022 editioninfo@suen.lu

An educational board game

The educational activity proposed in the framework of the “Woch vun de Suen” aims, through a board game, the EURODEO de la Conso, animated by the volunteer(s), to make pupils aware of the importance of money in consumption, to enable them to manage a sum of money and to develop a critical mind before making a purchase decision.

An event for young people

During this event, we teach children in the 4th cycle of primary education (10 to 12 years old) in Luxembourg the basic requirements for responsible money management. The aim is to make them understand the value of money and to make them aware of the importance of budget control for their future. In a context of increasing incentive consumption, it is indeed essential to introduce financial education from a very young age in order to make young people aware of the need for careful and responsible consumption.

The same module is offered by the ABBL in the framework of the pilot project ‘Kannerkascht +’, which brings together educational actors from all fields of non-formal education to offer extracurricular programmes to children in the city of Esch.

In 2019, more than 1100 pupils from all over the country participated in the fifth edition of Suen’s Woch vun, representing 78 classes from 69 schools. The initiative gathered 80 volunteers from the ABBL members.
