McGill University’s finance programmes in Luxembourg gain high-level recognition

Published on 09 February 2026

The recent official visit of Luxembourg’s Prime Minister to Canada highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in key areas such as finance, innovation and talent development. Among the initiatives referenced at political level was the establishment of the McGill Luxembourg Centre for Finance and the launch of McGill University’s Master of Management in Finance (MMF) in Luxembourg. This recognition underscores the strategic relevance of a programme supported by the ABBL and its partners, designed to connect academic excellence with the evolving needs of Luxembourg’s financial ecosystem.

Summary

A strategic partnership for talent development

The McGill Luxembourg Centre for Finance and the MMF programme were established through a founding partnership between McGill University, the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance, the ABBL and the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI).

From the outset, the ABBL has actively supported this initiative as part of its commitment to enhancing the attractiveness and competitiveness of Luxembourg’s financial centre, notably through high-value educational pathways aligned with industry needs. Strengthening links between academia and the financial sector is a key lever to support innovation, resilience and long-term growth. More information on the partnership
