This policy paper presents the Luxembourg Bankers’ Association’s proposals to simplify and improve the European regulatory framework for the financial sector. It highlights the challenges created by regulatory complexity, overlapping requirements and administrative burdens, which can hinder competitiveness, innovation and economic growth. The document outlines five key policy recommendations, including stronger policy coordination, greater proportionality, more efficient data reporting, support for innovation and enhanced collaboration between regulators and market participants. Based on consultations with members, the paper also provides detailed proposals across banking regulation, financial markets, payments, digital finance, legal and sustainability frameworks, with the aim of fostering a more coherent, efficient and competitive financial ecosystem in Europe
