Woch vun de Suen 2026: strengthening financial literacy across Luxembourg

Published on 23 March 2026

More than 1,000 pupils across Luxembourg took part in the 2026 Woch vun de Suen, gaining practical skills to better understand money, budgeting and everyday financial decisions.

Summary

From 16 to 20 March 2026, the Fondation ABBL pour l’éducation financière, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, successfully delivered a new edition of the Woch vun de Suen, engaging more than 1,000 pupils across Luxembourg in practical financial education activities.

A collective effort to promote financial literacy

The 12th edition of the Woch vun de Suen has come to a close, marking another important step in strengthening financial literacy among young people in Luxembourg. Throughout the week, 1,040 pupils from 69 classes took part in interactive workshops designed to help them better understand money, budgeting and responsible financial behaviour.

This initiative, coordinated by the Fondation ABBL pour l’éducation financière, reflects a strong collective commitment involving schools, public authorities and financial sector professionals.

    Learning through real-life situations

Across participating schools, students engaged in open discussions and practical exercises covering essential topics such as:

    • understanding the difference between needs and wants
    • managing pocket money and first income
    • building and following a budget
    • discovering the role of banks and financial services
    • exploring career opportunities in the financial secto

These exchanges help translate complex financial concepts into practical, everyday situations, making them more accessible and relevant for young audiences.

    A hands-on and engaging approach

The programme was made possible thanks to the mobilisation of 76 volunteer trainers, including employees from ABBL member institutions, ABBL staff and representatives from the CSSF.

Interactive tools such as the Money Odyssey application further supported learning, offering a dynamic way to explore key financial concepts including saving, budgeting and responsible consumption.

    A shared commitment across stakeholders

The success of this year’s edition highlights the importance of collaboration between all actors involved in financial education.

    Special thanks go to:

    • the teachers, for their engagement and support throughout the sessions
    • the volunteer trainers, for sharing their expertise with enthusiasm
    • and all partners involved in the initiative

The Fondation ABBL also acknowledges the strong contribution of its teams and coordinators in bringing the programme to life across the country.

Learning the value of money and the basics of budgeting from an early age is essential to help young people manage their future financial autonomy.

    Looking ahead

As financial environments continue to evolve rapidly, initiatives such as the Woch vun de Suen remain essential to equip younger generations with the tools they need to make informed decisions and navigate an increasingly digital world.

The Fondation ABBL will continue to develop and support concrete actions to promote financial education, inclusion and responsible financial behaviour in Luxembourg.
