What a success for the ABBL Bank CEO – FinTech Speed Meeting 2024! This annual gathering brings together C-level executives from financial institutions with innovative solution providers (FinTechs) to explore cooperation opportunities and spark ideas. A wonderful example of collaboration, a value that the ABBL actively promotes as a cornerstone of the growth of the Luxembourg financial industry!
This year, we had the pleasure of hosting the event in the presence of Finance Minister Gilles Roth. More than 100 key players from our financial ecosystem attended: bank CEOs, CIOs, COOs, CTOs and many others, who came to engage with FinTech representatives, with a great deal of networking and discussion of mutual interests.
The ABBL did not achieve this alone: it was made possible thanks to the support of BGL BNP Paribas, under the guidance of Béatrice Belorgey, who graciously hosted the event on its premises. We would also like to thank The LHoFT – Luxembourg House of Financial Technology for its ongoing collaboration with the ABBL. A big thank you to all the bank and FinTech representatives who contributed to the success of this event. It was thanks to the dedication of everyone involved that we were able to make this event a reality, and for that we express our sincere gratitude to everyone!
We look forward to seeing the benefits of this event for the national ecosystem and to seeing bank executives and FinTech founders again next year to contribute together to innovation in the Luxembourg financial sector.
Testimonial from a Bank CEO: Béatrice Belorgey, BGL BNP Paribas
What do you think about this ABBL initiative?
“We welcome this exciting initiative. As you know, banks are facing many strategic issues such as improving the customer experience or the considerable increase in regulatory requirements. That’s why cooperation with FinTech or RegTech firms is very important to keep innovating and dealing with all these issues.”
What are your biggest takeaways from the event?
“This event allows interaction between the banks, CEO of banks and the FinTech. So it is an opportunity to have discussion, exchange with other banks, the CEO of other banks, with start-ups as well, in order to find new opportunities, to mutualize additional initiatives in order to keep innovating and transforming our industry.”
What’s next, how do you plan to follow up on these contacts and opportunities?
“We have identified some startups, with which we will be able to discuss because 8 minutes is a very short period of time to go deep in the offering. So we will continue to discuss and in addition, for some of them, we will try to present them to other parts of the BNP Paribas Group in the world.”
Testimonial from a FinTech Founder: Benoit Mayolini, i-Hub
What do you think about this ABBL initiative?
“It is an excellent initiative, as it brings FinTechs in the middle of the game. FinTechs can promote their solutions, they can explain the issue that they are solving. On the other side, financial market players have a great opportunity to discover the most innovative solutions of the market. It is a great opportunity, because we have succeeded to explain our KYC outsourcing solutions. We have succeeded to explain that we are a digital expert in the customer due diligence review. And finally, it has been a launching pad for the mutualization of KYC.”
Did anything surprise you or particularly catch your interest during the evening?
“Yes, it has been a huge surprise because we feel that financial market players want to discover more about our respective solutions. An eight-minute speech is great. It is short, but we feel that banks want more.”
What’s next, how do you plan to follow up on these contacts and opportunities?
“Next step, after the business calendar swap, is to meet people from organisations, business teams, organisation teams and compliance teams, in order to identify the issue that they are facing and to run a demo meeting. So that is the next step, and I am sure that we have the value propositions to support our clients.”
