Annual ABBL- European Payments Council (EPC) event

The ABBL-EPC annual event explored key 2023 payments developments and the EPC roadmap for 2024, including instant payments, ISO 20022 and Open Banking.
Summary
On 14th December 2023, the ABBL had the great honour to welcome Giorgio Andreoli, Director General of the European Payments Council (EPC). Giorgio Andreoli shared the relevant developments in the payments sector in 2023 and the EPC roadmap for 2024.
Topics covered include the introduction of the new “One-Leg Out Instant Credit Transfer” scheme, which connects existing schemes in the SEPA world with non-European payment transactions, the postponed “ISO20022” migration, the Instant Payments regulation, and the SEPA Payment Account Access (SPAA), a scheme fit for purpose in the era of Open Banking.
Moreover, the use and dissemination of fraud data has been discussed in the context of EPC’s MISP – Malware Information Sharing Platform.
