The ABBL Foundation and Lycée Guillaume Kroll team up to raise awareness on sustainability

Published on 20 December 2023

The ABBL Foundation works with Lycée Guillaume Kroll to help young people understand sustainable finance, climate action and the impact of responsible financial decisions.

Summary

Raising awareness among future financial consumers of the importance of sustainable finance and the role it can play in promoting sustainability is a fundamental part of financial education that is in tune with the challenges of our time.

On 15 December 2023, the ABBL Foundation for financial Education held a series of workshops to raise awareness of sustainable finance issues among about one hundred secondary school students as part of the “Futur 2 – Guillaume Goes Green” initiative launched by the Lycée Guillaume Kroll (LGK) over a 3-year period.

At the end of a workshop, the young people gained a better understanding of the impact their commitments can have.

    • What is sustainability?
    • What do we mean by sustainable finance?
    • What interest do companies, including those in the financial sector, have in becoming more sustainable?
    • What can you really do today as a young person and tomorrow as an adult to combat climate change?
    • How can you make conscious choices to invest in certain sustainable products?

Objectives of the Futur2 school project

The aim of the “Futur2 – Guillaume Goes Green” school project is to reach out to a wide and diverse audience in order to raise the ecological awareness of the LGK school community and encourage them to adopt more sustainable behaviours and take more sustainable decisions. How can this be achieved? By motivating and involving pupils in various sustainability related themes and encouraging them to become responsible citizens by taking sustainable action at school, in the neighbourhood and in the town of Esch-sur-Alzette.

    « Infotainment »

From 2024 onwards, the ABBL Foundation will also play an active role during Infotainment evenings which will be organized for parents. They will be encouraged to adapt their behaviors, put into practice the lessons learned and share the new knowledge they have acquired with their family and friends during this sessions.
