Banking Universe Summit 2024: Building a sustainable and innovative banking future

Over 300 professionals attended the Banking Universe Summit 2024 on 11 June at Philharmonie Luxembourg.The summit, co-organised by the ABBL and The Dots, provided an invaluable platform for networking, learning and discussing the future of banking in the digital age.

An opening ceremony that set the tone

The summit kicked off with inspiring words from Finance Minister Gilles Roth and ABBL President Yves Stein. Their speeches highlighted the importance of digital transformation, cloud strategies and artificial intelligence (AI) in reshaping the financial industry. Their presence underlined the importance of this event and set an optimistic tone for the discussions that followed.

Fostering the sharing of ideas on the bank of tomorrow,

The ABBL played a crucial role in the summit, making a significant contribution to the discourse on banking innovation and transformation. Our representatives, including Ananda Kautz and Sarah Guillermet-Odru, were instrumental in guiding discussions and sharing ideas on digital banking, payments and member relations.

Captivating sessions and expert views

The summit featured sessions from the four leading advisory firms, each addressing key themes in the financial sector:

• PwC Luxembourg led by Patrice Witz, Béatrice Belorgey, and Jean-Pierre Faber, focused on unlocking business value through cloud technolog: Unlocking business value through Cloud
• KPMG Luxembourg, with Xavier Roch Lhotellier, Laurent Pulinckx, Yannick Huchard, and Rui Rosado Gonçalves, explored AI’s impact on banking: Ambition of AI in Banking
• Deloitte presented “Banking 2035: Strategic Bets” with Alexandre Havard, Sarah Khabirpour, and Sandrine De Vuyst, discussing the future of banking: Banking 2035: Strategic Bets
• EY focused on talent attraction and innovation in Luxembourg, featuring Frank Rueckbrodt, Claire Alexandre, and Olivier Coekelbergs: Luxembourg attractiveness: myth and realities?

And also a Quiz session with Avaloq, featuring Geoffrey Dezoppy, Managing Director (Avaloq).

Fireside chat and closing speech, with Jerry Grbic

One of the highlights of the summit was the discussion moderated by Jerry Grbic, CEO of the ABBL, with Anna Zakrzewski of Quintet Private Bank and Christophe Lefaure of HSBC: Building the Bank of Tomorrow: Strategies and Innovations. They presented the future prospects for the construction of the banking sector, with Ms Zakrzewski stressing the importance of prioritising innovation efficiently.

Networking and walking dinner

The event concluded with a walking dinner, which allowed participants to network and discuss the day’s lessons. The atmosphere was very lively, with professionals exchanging ideas and forging new links.
