Rethinking banks’ loss-absorbing capacity — Strategies for stability and growth

How resilient are banks’ capital structures in today’s environment?
Join this EBF webinar to explore the future of loss-absorbing capacity and the evolving regulatory debate.

About the event

Recent developments in bank resolution have brought renewed attention to the effectiveness of capital and loss-absorbing frameworks. High-profile cases have highlighted uncertainties around instrument hierarchy, triggers and investor confidence, raising important questions for regulators and market participants alike.

In this context, banks face the dual challenge of maintaining strong capital positions while ensuring continued access to funding and market confidence. Institutions are increasingly expected to demonstrate how their liability structures can absorb losses and support resolvability.

This webinar will explore the implications of these developments and revisit the role of structural loss-absorbing capacity in light of recent regulatory and market developments. Particular attention will be given to the lessons learned from the resolution of Credit Suisse and the ongoing debate around Additional Tier 1 (AT1) instruments.
