ICBC Ltd., Luxembourg Branch was established in 1999 as a foreign branch of ICBC Limited, the Parent Company in Beijing, China. The Branch operates under its banking licence in Luxembourg, allowing it to provide all types of banking and financial activities, including deposit taking, credit business and securities investment in Luxembourg and abroad.

Through its presence in Luxembourg, the European Union is regarded as a key foothold in ICBC’s global network.

ICBC Ltd., Luxembourg Branch is looking for a talented Financial Institutions Relationship Manager to join the Financial Institutions Department on a permanent contract.

Purpose of the position

The successful candidate will play an important role in the management of Financial Institution (FI) client relationships, including:

  • loan management;
  • risk monitoring;
  • KYC and due diligence;
  • supporting the bank’s overall FI business growth and risk control framework.

Key responsibilities

1. Client relationship management & marketing

  • Develop, implement and maintain the FI client marketing plan in alignment with the Bank’s strategic goals.
  • Build and strengthen long-term relationships with FI clients, including banks, insurance companies, sovereign institutions and other financial entities.
  • Promote and cross-sell FI products and services in coordination with other business lines.
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations and proposals.

2. Loan portfolio management

  • Manage the FI loan portfolio, including documentation, disbursement, repayment and post-loan monitoring.
  • Support internal loan approval processes, prepare credit proposals and ensure timely updates of credit files.

3. Risk management & credit review

  • Implement risk monitoring and credit management processes.
  • Conduct periodic credit reviews, risk assessments and follow-up actions to ensure the soundness of the FI portfolio.

4. Market research & business development

  • Conduct market research, monitor trends in the FI sector and identify new business opportunities.
  • Collect and analyse competitor and product information to support business strategy.

5. KYC, due diligence & compliance

  • Take full responsibility for client onboarding, offboarding and periodic KYC reviews.
  • Perform due diligence to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements (e.g. AML, sanctions).
  • Work closely with the Compliance, Legal and Operations departments to maintain high standards of client data integrity and risk control.

6. Internal coordination & reporting

  • Liaise with relevant internal departments (Financial Markets, Risk Management, Operations, Legal, etc.) to ensure the smooth execution of transactions.
  • Prepare regular reports on client activities, credit performance and the business pipeline.

Profile and Personal Skills

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in financial institutions relationship management, corporate banking or credit analysis.
  • Good knowledge of KYC/AML and compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a service-oriented mindset and the ability to work effectively across functions.
  • Customer-oriented approach and team spirit.
  • A high level of discretion, confidentiality, integrity and transparency.
