Job Purpose

The Senior Sustainable Finance Analyst occupies a critical position within the Sustainable FinanceDepartment, bridging prudential risk management and the fast-evolving EU sustainable financeregulatory landscape. Working at the intersection of climate risk, ESG disclosure, and credit analysis, deepen bank’s ESG risk framework, drive compliance with EBA/GL/2025/01 and CSRD/ESRSrequirements, and embed sustainability considerations into core banking processes including ICAAP, ILAAP, and credit underwriting. This is a role with direct engagement with senior management, theBoard of Directors, and the CSSF as supervisory authority.

Tasks and responsibilities

ESG Risk Framework & Governance

  • Maintain and continuously enhance the Bank’s ESG Risk Policy, ensuring alignment with EBA/GL/2025/01 and CSSF Circular 26/905;
  • Lead the annual ESG materiality assessment, translating outputs into actionable risk identification across environmental, social, and governance dimensions;
  • Integrate ESG and climate risk into ICAAP, ILAAP, and the Risk Appetite Framework, including development and monitoring of Green Asset Ratio (GAR) limits;
  • Support the preparation of the SREP self-assessment on ESG, including scoring rationale and regulatory substantiation.

Regulatory Compliance & Disclosure

  • Own Pillar III ESG disclosure report (CRR Article 449a), including quantitative templates and qualitative narrative, benchmarked against EU peer institutions;
  • Coordinate CSRD/ESRS gap analysis and readiness roadmap, covering disclosure topics S1–S4andE1–E5;  Monitor and interpret evolving regulatory developments (CRD VI, CSDDD/CS3D, EU Taxonomy, SFDR) and assess their prudential and operational implications for the Bank;
  • Lead the measurement, analysis, and reporting of the Bank’s carbon footprint;
  • Maintain the in-house ESG database and relevant tools;
  • Liaise with the CSSF, ECB, and EBA on supervisory queries related to climate and ESG risk.

Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Prepare ESG-related Board papers, management reporting, and supervisory submissions;
  • Represent the Sustainable Finance Department in internal governance committees and external industry forums;
  • Contribute to ESG capacity-building across the organisation.

Sustainable Finance Products & Advisory

  • Support the structuring and monitoring of green loans, sustainability-linked bonds, and other ESG labelled instruments, including EU Taxonomy eligibility and alignment assessments;
  • Advise Relationship Managers and the Credit Committee on ESG due diligence for corporate lendingtransactions, with particular focus on high-impact sectors;
  • Develop and maintain ESG questionnaires and client engagement policies calibrated to CSRD and CSDDD requirements.

Profile and personal skills

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, Law, or a related field; ESG in CFA or equivalent sustainability credentials are advantageous;
  • Minimum 4-year professional experience in ESG risk, sustainable finance, or climate-related roles within a regulated financial institution, supervisory authority, or advisory firm;
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) to a professional/C1 standard; Mandarin is an asset; Deep command of the EU sustainable finance regulatory framework: EBA/GL/2025/01, EBA/GL/2021/05, CRD VI, CSRD/ESRS, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, and CSDDD/CS3D;  Proven experience with ICAAP/ILAAP processes and the integration of ESG/climate risk into prudential frameworks;
  • Experience drafting regulatory submissions, gap analyses, and policy documentation for supervisory review;
  • Regulatory acuity – ability to parse complex EU regulation and translate it into practical, defensible institutional actions;
  • Analytical rigor – comfort with quantitative modelling alongside qualitative ESG assessment;
  • Communication excellence – ability to present nuanced ESG topics clearly to boards, auditors, and regulators;
  • Collaborative mindset – experience working across Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Business functions;
  • Initiative and ownership – demonstrated ability to drive workstreams independently in a lean team environment;
  • Good knowledge of ESG regulations and disclosure frameworks;
  • Strong ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative data;
  • Good MS Office skills (Word, Advanced Excel, Powerpoint);
  • Proficiency in Python and Power BI is considered an advantage;
  • Good knowledge in Bloomberg will be an asset;
  • Sense of discretion and integrity.
