The Memorandum “Financing the Future: A Strategic Banking Sector for a Competitive Europe” published by the European Banking Federation in January 2024 sets out recommendations for the EU 2024–2029 term. It calls for smarter regulation, a completed Banking Union, deeper capital markets, and pragmatic sustainability and digital finance frameworks to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness, resilience, and strategic autonomy.
