The EU Agenda now exclusively available for ABBL Members
Published on 28 November 2023
The ABBL EU Agenda provides members with regularly updated monitoring of EU initiatives covering banking supervision, financial markets, digital banking, sustainable finance, client protection, legal matters and taxation.
Summary
The ABBL completed the set-up of the EU Agenda, which is now available for all members. The Agenda is a powerful monitoring tool, allowing Members to receive the latest developments on the EU initiatives that affect them the most.
Seven policy areas
Accessible via the ABBL website under the toolbox menu, the EU Agenda comprises seven policy areas.
- Under the ‘Banking Supervision’ heading, it is possible to consult the latest status of EU activity on topics such as Capital Requirements or Bank Recovery and Resolution. Active files within this section include also the Insurance Recovery and Resolution Directive (IRRD), and the Solvency II Directive.
- The second section, labelled ‘Financial Market Regulation’, wraps up the current regulatory status of European capital markets. Notably, the Retail Investment Strategy (RIS) is attentively monitored here, together with files such as EMIR, MiFID/R, and Packaged Retail Insurance-based Investment Products (PRIIPs).
- ‘Digital Banking’ and ‘Sustainable Finance’ respectively represent the third and the fourth sections of the EU Agenda. The former tracks developments in crypto-assets, distributed ledger technology, payments, and the digital Euro. The latter takes care of carbon benchmarks, ESG ratings, the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), as well as any other file linked to environmental or social sustainability.
- ‘Client Protection’, ‘Legal’, and ‘Taxation’ complete the extensive overview provided by this tool. The first deals with policy areas directly affecting customers, such as the Deposit Guarantee Schemes directive or the directive on distant marketing of financial services. The second covers, among others, the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) legislation. Finally, despite taxation being a highly domestic matter, EU initiatives such as the Directive on Administrative Cooperation in tax matters (DAC) or the anti-tax avoidance directive are monitored in the last section.
The regularly updated EU Agenda is now exclusively accessible for members as part of the Toolbox in the Professionals section on the ABBL platform.
